Key Observations & Technical Discussions
1. Wagon Tippler – Table Drive Plummer Blocks
- Masta Plummer Blocks Installed: Verified Masta heavy-duty BND 3092 plummer blocks operating on the Table Drive of Wagon Tippler #4 in Coal Handling Plant (CHP).
- OEM Supply History: These robust plummer blocks were supplied by M/s Elecon in 2022 along with the Wagon Tippler package equipment.
- Spare Procurement: The plant authority expressed keen interest in procuring direct spare plummer blocks to maintain zero-breakdown spares inventory.
- Previous Installations: It was noted that for Wagon Tipplers 1 to 3, the table drive plummer blocks had been supplied by M/s Promac, Bangalore.
2. Hammer Crusher – Hammer Heads (Alternate Vendor Development)
- BTPS has Hammer Crushers installed in the coal preparation stream, for which M/s Elecon is the OEM.
- Currently, the OEM is charging approximately Rs. 17,000 per hammer head (22 kg weight).
- To optimize maintenance operating costs, BTPS management intends to develop reliable alternate casting vendors.
- Development Pathway: BTPS has agreed to provide one sample hammer head to Masta Casting for detailed reverse engineering, 2D/3D drawing development, and confirmation of Material of Construction (MOC).
